why do people perform with a headset mic and a handheld ?
i was watching high school musical, and i saw vanessa hudgens perform with a handheld mic and a headset mic. and a few other performances form the cast, when they used a hand held mic thier headset mic was pushed down towards thier chin not thier mouth. and when they did use the headset mic it was close to thier mouth.
The handheld picks up better fidelity and is often used as a prop. the headset mike is more reliable and looks all cool and Sci-Fi. Most of the time, they are lip syncing to a background tape and do all the real vocals in post production anyway, so much of that is for show. If you were to hear what they were really doing while they were performing (thanks to the strenuous choreography) you would hear a lot more heavy breathing and costume noise. It is extremely rare for anyone to actually perform live while they are doing dance steps. It takes lungs of iron and the stamina of an Arabian Stallion.
