How much should an electric bill be for a 4 bedroom apartment?
I live in a flat four bedroom apartment and I was just wondering why our bill just keeps getting higher. I do live at the pointe at western so of course electric is not included in rent. So what is the average rate suppose to be its seems like close to $200 is a lot for four people to be paying.
ok so the heat is electric and my three roommates leave all of their game systems and computers plugged in all the time and they are not turned off. I am so sick of our bill increasing every month.
That all really depends on a few different things. Where do you live? How cold or warm do you like the place to be? What kind of windows do you have? What kind of lights do you have? Is everything in the place electric or are somethings gas? What is the Kw rate?
I live in Houston, TX and the summers here can feel like your eyes can melt at anytime. I like to try to keep the place kind of cool so I'll keep it at about 73 - 74. Last summer I think my highest bill was about in the $230 - $250 range. I live in 1 bedroom duplex that is a older home and that has a gas oven and heater. So an average of about $200 is not that bad during the summer for a place that big to me. The only advice I can give you is to keep the place a little warmer and change out your light bulbs to florescent bulbs. They use less then half the wattage and have whiter light. Also in the summer time for your A.C, they sell a mist kit to cool the air around the A.C. It works by using a very light mist of water to cool the air going in the A.C. Which means the A.C. doesn't need to work has hard to cool the place down but I'm not sure if you can do that with an apartment. How cold do you keep your refrigerator? You might want to change the temp in there. Also shop around and see who has a better going Kw rate. Wish I could help you out some more.
